”Transnational Seminar on Youth Policy Development in SEE region” is a project that aims at fostering cooperation in youth work and youth policy development among National Youth Councils together with representatives of public authorities responsible in youth field in South East Europe. The project gathers representatives of five different countries, namely Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Slovenia and Romania with the specific purpose to exchange best practices in youth policy development, participation of young people and support of youth work. Exploring our common social, economic and political aspects, but also benefitting from a vast cultural diversity, we will reflect together on the values and principles that lie at the heart of our work and its impact in our communities, while we will shape the cooperation in youth field in SEE region.
The project provided a non-formal framework for youth representatives and decision makers to discuss on important aspects of youth work and youth policies development, as well as to work together for shaping the cooperation in youth field in SEE region. This was the first time when cooperation in SEE was established in this formula and at the initiative of young people, who have assumed a leading role in shaping better communities in SEE region.
The main objectives of the seminar: Creating a space for dialogue and exchange of best practices on youth issues and youth policies in SEE countries, both for National Youth Councils and Resort Ministries, in order to find common ground for cooperation and support active participation of young people; Sharing best practices in youth work and youth policy development in terms of mechanisms of identifying youth needs, establishing national priorities, involving relevant stakeholders and having a trans-sectoral approach by exploring the cultural, social, economic and political context; Developing mid and long term partnerships, both at institutional and civil society level, by identifying strategic priorities for cooperation in youth field in SEE and concrete actions, to be further assumed by our organizations and institutions; Identifying the peculiarities of youth policies development in SEE and rising the sense of belonging and awareness among participants in order to get actively involved and stimulate youth participation in the region; Creating the premises to develop a concrete strategy and an action plan for strengthening the cooperation in youth field in South East Europe.
